Balmorra (Empire)

Please Note: In SWTOR, there is a Republic version and an Empire version of this world. They are different zones and have different guides to match. This artical is the Empire version. If you are looking for the Republic version click here.

As a factory world, Balmorra has constantly produced the most advanced weaponry for most of its history. With the Treaty of Coruscant, the world went under the control of the Sith Empire. Still highly sought after by the Republic, they try to use espionage, diplomacy and guerilla warfare to win over the world. While the Republic has some success the Empire is quick to punish and squash any civil unrest.

The world began as a colony of Humbarine. Due to slow interstellar travel and communications, it was one of several colony worlds that declared their independence. During the settlement of Balmorra the world quickly established itself as a haven for renowned weapon and battle droid manufacturers. While determined to remain independent of the Republic, they became strong allies supplying the Galactic Republic and the greater galaxy with advanced droids and weapons.

During the Great Galactic War the Sith Empire tried to take Balmorra due to its military manufacturing plants and strategic location. The Republic immediately sent soldiers to prevent that from happening. As the Great Galactic War continued and the Sith Empire's control continued to spread, the strained Republic began removing forces from Balmorra for redeployment to more important conflicts. This continued until the Treaty of Coruscant was signed.

As part of the peace treaty Balmorra was given to the Empire. Most Balmorrans felt they had been abandoned by the Republic as they were forced to officially end its support for the world. However a small underground Republic force was left on the planet to aid in a resistance against the remaining Sith Empire. The resistance prevented the Sith Empire from ever taking complete control of the planet.

Today Balmorra is still home to many top engineers and scientists. Weapon factories are in full production of the latest battle droids for the coming conflict.
