Dromund Kaas was an original colony of the Sith Empire. Sith lords and their servants built temples to reflect their power. At some point in history its location was lost to the rest of the galaxy, even to their own people living on Korriban. The inhabitants of Dromund Kaas were overrun by fear and savage beasts of the jungle. The Sith temples became tombs and was all that remained for centuries.

The rediscovery of Dromund Kaas began in the aftermath of the Great Hyperspace War. The Sith Emperor, also known as Sith Lord Vitiate, ordered his researchers and historians to locate a safe haven for the people of the defeated Empire. They embarked on a twenty year wandering journey that finally ended with the worlds rediscovery.

Under the guidance of the Sith Emperor and the newly created Dark Council the Empire gradually tamed their new home world. Grand Moff Odile Vaiken, a human who founded the new Imperial Military led a campaign into the wild jungle in order to clear the wilderness and make way for the Empire's capital, Kaas City. The Emperor himself slew a terentatek on the future site of the Imperial Citadel, the building that would house the headquarters of the new Sith Order and the Empire's Ministries of War, Intelligence, and Logistics. From Dromund Kaas, the Empire gradually expanded their domain.

Centuries later, while the rest of the galaxy was recovering from the Mandalorian Wars, Jedi Revan and his apprentice Malak chased the Mandalorians into deep space. By chance or perhaps with whispers from the Emperor, they found their way to Dromund Kaas. They were not prepared for the evil that lived here. When they confronted the Sith Emperor they were defeated. Twisting their minds the Emperor corrupted them to the dark side of the force. Dromund Kaas is where they become Darth Revan and Darth Malak. The Emperor then sent them back to Republic space to prepare for a full scale invasion. Revan was redeemed by the Jedi and slew Malak in the ensuing Jedi Civil War. Once again a Jedi, Revan would again find himself searching for evil in deep space. He would return to Dromund Kaas as a prisoner. Revan was later moved to a more secure location known as Maelstrom Prison.

From the most powerful sith lords to the weakest of slaves, Dromund Kaas continues to be the home of all walks of life.
