Credited as being the birthplace of the Force, Tython has been a place of study for countless millenniums. Force wielding monks started gathered here to explore the potential of this new power when the galaxy was just learning space travel. Now rediscovered by the Jedi Order, young padawans and Jedi Masters alike come here to meditate in the Force, unlocking the mysteries of the universe.

Tython played a pivotal role in the history of the Jedi Order. It was inhabited by an unknown species hundreds of thousands of years before the rise of the Republic. Early interstellar travelers started to visit and build colonies here. Over a dozen species from across the galaxy learned to harness the Force. Together they established the Je'daii Order, basing their philosophy of balance upon Tython's two moons Ashla and Bogan. The Je'daii soon realized that Tython was unsafe for those who could not sense the Force, and as a result, the Tythans spread out to settle the other worlds of the Tython system.

After over ten thousand years of peace, war and conflict found its way to Tython. The final battle of the Despot War was fought here. Then twelve years later, a vessel from the Infinite Empire of the Rakata species crashed on Tython's surface, sparking one of the intense Force storms that occurred whenever the balance of Tython was shifted between the light and dark sides of the Force. The Force Wars erupted not long afterwards. Followers of the light side and the followers of the dark side clashed in deadly battle. The aftermath of the Force Wars did not leave much of anything left. The victorious followers of the light established the Jedi Order. They departed Tython for the distant world of Ossus, leaving Tython to become lost as the Deep Core erased the hyperlanes to the planet, and the savage Flesh Raiders evolved on the now empty world. Tython was nearly forgotten.

In the wake of the Sacking of Coruscant by the Sith Empire, Jedi Knight Satele Shan reestablished a Jedi presence on Tython. With a new Jedi Temple the world became the Jedi Order's new home during the Cold War between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic. The ruins of Kaleth were visited many times by young padawans on their trials. Rediscovering lost knowledge left by the founders of the Jedi order help the Jedi regain their focus and better their understanding of the force. Something many of them lost during the Great Galactic War.

Tython is also home to a small Twi’lek colony. Driven from their homes in the Great Galactic War, and without the republic senate approval, the refugees established a small settlement near to the Jedi headquarters. Despite the Twi’lek’s close proximity to the Jedi, they are continually under attack by the native Flesh Raiders.

Today Tython is a destination for many young padawans and their masters. With better understanding of the Force the Jedi get stronger, but not everything found on Tython is of the light. Darkness lives here as well.
